Dozens of participants turned up for the 2017 Durham Region Plowing Match on Saturday (Aug. 26) at the Sunderland area farm of Ted and Wilma Smith.
As Queen of Furrow, Sunderland resident Josie Linton was also in attendance for the day and thanked the Smiths for their gracious welcome.
She also thanked all of the event’s participants and sponsors, as well as the members of the Durham Plowmen’s Association for their support during her stint as Queen of the Furrow, which continues for another year.
“I couldn’t be more proud and honoured to be representing such an amazing group of people within Durham Region,” she said.
Linton said she’s particularly interested in appearing at community events throughout the region in the coming year.
