Brock man charged after alleged vehicle theft in Oshawa

A 20-year-old man from Brock Township faces charges after a car was allegedly stolen in Oshawa.

Durham Regional Police say at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 23), officers were called to a break and enter at a residence in the Rossland Road and Mary Street area of Oshawa. The homeowner reported a man tried to steal several landscaping items from his garage before fleeing over a fence.

Officers located the suspect a short distance away with the help of K-9 and Air 1.

Police say the suspect was found near a vehicle he had allegedly stolen earlier in the evening.

Jeffery Avery, 20, of Brock Township is charged with break and enter with intent, two counts of failing to comply with recognizance, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Police have since released video footage of the arrest.
