Members of a social media group have rallied for a Beaverton woman battling an aggressive form of cancer.
Following an online fundraising campaign, the administrators of Beaverton Treasure Finds recently presented Gale Vieveen with a massive care package and a bouquet of flowers that came with an inspiring message.
“We as a community stand united with support, cheer and well wishes,” the card read.
The gesture moved the lifelong Beaverton resident to tears.
“She has a long road ahead but will never travel it alone,” said her daughter, Gloria, in an interview following the presentation.
Members of the page – which is administrated by Peggy McLean and Colin Theodoru – have launched similar campaigns for local residents in the past and were more than happy to help this time around.
Both were extremely touched by the outpouring of support from the community.
“Mrs. Vieveen is a wife and mother, grandmother, friend, local business owner & lifetime community resident. She has unselfishly provided endless amounts of her time, energies and more to our town, our local community events, fundraising campaigns and more,” McLean wrote.
“Thank you for sending love, light, laughter and cheer to a very special lady. This community never fails to impress me nor our community groups.”
“This one came together very quickly with support, donations and some discounts from local businesses,” Theodoru added.
