Amateur writers are once again invited to put pen to paper for the Write this Way contest, hosted by Brock Township Public Library.
The third annual Peg Baillie Amateur Writing Contest kicked off August 1 with submissions being accepted until Sept. 23.
With three age categories — junior (Grade 7 and 8), Teen (Grade 9 to 12) and Adult — the contest invites all amateur writers with Brock Township Public Library cards to enter their best short stories for a chance to win cash prizes.
Vicki Bruce, outreach and programming coordinator for the Brock Township Public Library, says if someone holds a library card for elsewhere in Durham Region, they can acquire one for Brock and therefore enter the contest.
“This is our third annual contest and we would like to see the absolute largest participation,” says Bruce.
In each age group, the reward for first place is $125, $75 for second place and $50 for the writer who comes in third.
For more information about the contest contact the library, visit one of the three branches — 401 Simcoe St., Beaverton, 38 Laidlaw St. South, Cannington, 41 Albert St., Sunderland — or visit brocklibraries.ca.
