Police responded to the Durham courthouse in Oshawa yesterday after reports a suspicious bag was left outside the main entrance on a bench.
Around 7 p.m. Thursday (July 20), officers arrived and located a black briefcase with no identifying markers. As a precaution the area was cordoned off along Bond Street and vehicle and pedestrian traffic was blocked.
The DRPS Tactical Support and the Explosive Disposal Unit attended and were able to determine the bag contained only paperwork and personal items. It was returned to its owner who had accidentally left it behind. No one was hurt during the incident. The area was closed for just over three hours.
