John Lambert, a longtime member of the Beaverton Lions Club as well as the village’s fair board, has been recognized as this year’s winner of the Harold Lodwick Citizenship Award.
Named after the former municipal politician and tireless volunteer that passed away in 2008, the award is designed to recognize Beaverton’s community champions.
According to Brock Township Mayor John Grant, Lambert certainly fits the bill.
“He’s a most deserving winner,” he said.
A member of the Lions Club for more than four decades, Lambert is also a longtime volunteer with the Beaverton Agricultural Society, St. Andrew’s United Church and the Brock office of Community Care Durham.
In an interview, he said the award was a “real honour.”
“Volunteering always seemed like a natural thing to do for me,” he said.
It’s also something he’s passed onto to many of his family members, who joined him for a group photo following the award presentation.
