A 59-year-old Beaverton woman was killed while crossing Mara Road near Thorah Concession 7 Wednesday (July 5) afternoon.
According to the Durham Regional Police, the woman – who has not been identified – was hit by a Buick Regal as she was attempting to cross the street around 3:30 p.m.
Though several witnesses stopped to render assistance to the injured pedestrian until paramedics arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the 92-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and reported no injuries.
