canada flagCanada Day in Cannington will be extra special this year as residents and visitors are treated to free rides in MacLeod Park.

The 2017 Canada Day Festival, hosted by the Cannington Lions Club, includes free attractions, rides and games thanks to a sponsorship from Canada Protection Plan.

In previous years, attendees needed to purchase tickets or wristbands to enjoy some features of the festival. However, with the contribution from their corporate partner, the Lions Club was able to make this year’s celebrations even more affordable.

In addition to the free rides, the party includes bouncy castles for the kids and a beer tent and entertainment for the adults. The Lions will be selling hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, cotton candy, popcorn and other snacks to keep everyone energized throughout the day.

Other attractions this year include the classic car and truck Show, face painting, the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Award, the Woofjocks Canine All-Stars Show, Brock’s Biggest Canada Day Cake, giveaways and more.

As always, a fireworks display – sponsored by Ben’s Pharmacy – will cap off the night.
