An online crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help cover the funeral expenses of the teenager who drowned in Fenelon Falls over the weekend.
According to police, 15-year-old Harley Broome went missing while swimming with friends at the locks on Saturday (June 10) afternoon. His body was recovered shortly after 8 p.m.
The campaign – which can be found at http://bit.ly/2shHngF — was launched by a co-worker and friend of the Fenelon Falls Secondary School student.
“Harley was loved by many. He was a sweet, outgoing, hard working young man. The entire community is at a loss. Everyone who knew him has a broken heart,” reads the online post.
“Although there is nothing that can be said or done to take the pain away, we can help the family by pulling together and fundraising towards helping them with the funeral costs.”
As of Monday (June 12) night, the post had been shared more than 800 times on Facebook and the campaign had raised more than $7,500.
